Weekend Workshop Sat 2 and Sun 3 November - How can practising Yoga bring the mind to silence?’.

I am teaching a weekend workshop this Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November.  This workshop represents a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of Yoga and to spend time exploring some of the yoga asanas in more detail.  It takes us out of the class format and into a 3 session format.  The morning asana will be active and the afternoon sessions will be restorative or we will practice Pranayama (breathing techniques).   All levels are welcome - please confirm your attendance by Friday 5pm by emailing or placing your name on the enrolment sheet at TYRO.  Flyer with details at Yoga Room.

Restoratives and Pranayama

Cost:   $150 all 3 sessions or $120 for 2 sessions.  It is preferable to attend all sessions.

Women’s Workshop - Yoga for a health Transition through Menopause - Sat 30 November 1.00-4.00pm 

Learn the asanas that give energy when needed, calm the nervous system and adrenals to find balance during this transition.  An important workshop for all women who are approaching menopause, making the transition or who are postmenoausal. Cost $45 which includes notes.

Relax and Restore Class Sunday 1 December 9.30-11.00am

This is the last restful class for this year so come along a de-stress, take some time for yourself and feel ready to face the busy month of December.  All levels welcome - casual attendance $23. This class is not open to make up classes.

Christmas Gathering and term dates

We will again have a Christmas gathering to allow students of The Yoga Room to catch up and chat over something to eat and drink.  Date and venue tbc.

Missed Classes

A reminder that all missed classes must be made up this term.  Classes cannot be carried over til 2020.  Please note the Relax and Restore class is not open to make up classes.

Intensive January 2020 and holiday classes 

I will again hold the Intensive in January.  Dates 22-26 January - tbc and flyer to follow.  There will also be casual classes throughout January.  This is an excellent way to prepare for the New Year and Term 1.

Iyengar Yoga Australia Convention May 2020

I encourage all students to look at attending the Iyengar Yoga Convention next year on the Sunshine Coast.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet yoga students from all around Australia and to attend classes with Iyengar’s granddaughter Abhi.   Here is the link:  https://iyengaryoga.asn.au/abhijata2020/.   If you are looking to share accommodation with another student from The Yoga Room, I will place a list on the table so you can communicate to organise a room mate.

Christmas Class and Brunch Saturday 14 December 7.30am

The end of the year deserves to be celebrated!  To say thank you for your support in 2024, we invite all our beautiful students to come along to a free Christmas Class.  This opportunity combines the benefits of yoga practice with the joy of coming together as a community.  

 

Brunch at Scrumptious 

After the class we will go downstairs for brunch.  Having brunch together is a great way to connect with fellow students for an informal catch up.  We have booked the cafe downstairs but require firm numbers by Monday 9 December.   (Each student will pay for their own meal).  I will place a list at the studio so you can indicate your attendance for either or both.

Sound Bath 4.00-6.00pm Saturday 5 October

Paulien Gort is an experienced Sound Healer who runs regular Sound Baths in Sydney. Bringing in her experience with shamanic healing, she facilitates powerful shifts on a physical/emotional/spiritual level.

Saturday 5 October 8.00-9.15am - Yoga for Neck and Shoulders

Do you have tight shoulders and neck muscles?  On Saturday we will go through the asanas that release this area and the asanas that strengthen and mobilise this area.  This class is open to all levels of experience and is valuable information for all students.  Use link below to book:

Yoga for Children and Young Adults - October Holidays

School holidays are almost here and we are offering classes and workshops to provide some educational fun for all age groups.  Come along and enjoy the fun and learn some new skills.  Times and dates are below:

Wednesday 2 October

9.30-11.00am - Yoga for Children 5-11yrs + Bath Bomb Workshop

This class explores yoga poses with guidance from the teacher and some input from the children.  We focus on mindfulness, observation, listening, concentration, and learning to be still.  The yoga poses are taught without expectation or judgment to encourage participation and confidence.   The class will be loads of fun and build skills and team work.  Following the class we will make bath bombs which your children can take home.  Please bring a plastic container to carry them home in.

11.15am-12.45pm Yoga for 12yrs+ and Natural Perfume Workshop

This class teaches various yoga poses in action.  It's dynamic and teaches coordination, focus, mindfulness and observation.  We will work as a team and work as individuals to listen, observe and work steadily through the class.  The students will also have some input and contribute to the poses we learn as a group.  At the end of the class there will be a relaxation segment - a time to be quiet and look inwards.  We will observe our breath and learn to settle ourselves and be still.
After the Class we will make a natural perfume in a roller ball which can be taken home.  There will be a choice of essential oils including base notes which are grounding, top notes which are typically energising such as citrus oils, and everything in between.

October Holiday Timetable + Led Practice

Hello there students of The Yoga Room!  

As the weather warms up and we adjust to the transition into Spring, it's important to be consistent with your yoga practice.  This will support you to maintain stability during changes in the elements.   Next week we have quite a few classes on the timetable.  The timetable is below and now includes a Led Practice session in the studio with Sharon on Wednesday 9 October from 6.30-7.30am.  All sessions are open to all students so please come along and maintain a consistent practice, ready for Term 4 which commences on Monday 14 October.

Weekend Workshop with Lulu Bull Snr Teacher 16 & 17 November

Hello Yoga students and friends,

We are so excited to have Lulu Bull again this year to teach at our studio in November.  
Lulu Bull is a senior Iyengar Teacher Level 3. She is the
director and principal teacher at the Blue Mountains Iyengar
Yoga Studio. Lulu has strong ties to the Iyengar family, having
been a direct student of BKS Iyengar. With over 30 years of
dedicated practice, Lulu has developed a keen eye and
intuitive understanding, bringing clarity and insight into her
teaching.
Lulu's workshop is always popular amongst our student base and is open to Iyengar students with at least 6 months experience of yoga.  It's a wonderful opportunity to learn from an experienced and insightful teacher and I encourage all our students to come along.
