Upcoming Workshops at The Yoga Room

Workshops are a great opportunity to increase your knowledge about the practice of Yoga.  The Yoga Room will offer the following workshops for the reminder of the year:

Spring Weekend Workshop

Friday 20 October 5.30pm-7.00pm, Saturday 21 October 4.00pm-5.30pm and Sunday 22 October 8.30-10.30am and 4.30pm-6.00pm

Spring is a time of change and unfolding.  It is a time to leave behind any old unwanted patterns and habits that no longer serve us, and to make way for fresh and more relevant and meaningful choices.  It's a great time to leave the hibernation of winter and renew our commitment to the practice of Yoga to support this seasonal change. Students with 3 months experience of yoga welcome.   Cost $180.  Book at The Yoga Room, on messenger or via website.

Womens Series Workshop (Yoga for a Woman's Cycle) - Saturday 28 October 1.00pm-4.15pm

Learn the benefits of structuring your practice around your cycle to include asanas for symptoms of PMT and specific asanas to support your time of menstruation.   This is open to all levels and is a workshop that looks at the philosophy behind doing a specific practice immediately before, during and just after menstruation to bring about a regular cycle.  We will set up the asanas and look at equipment and sequences to support and nurture you.  Open to students with 3 months experience of yoga.  Cost $50.

Sound Bath Meditation with Paulien from White Raven Healing Saturday 18 November 4.00-6.00pm

Let yourself be taken on a wonderful journey while being immersed by high vibrational sounds of the Neptune Gong, Tibetan and Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls, Shaman Drum, Chimes, Monochord and Channelled Chants that will support and help you to fully let go.

A Sound Bath will bring you into a deep state of relaxation while the sounds of the different instruments will help your body to heal itself and to rejuvenate. We'll finish with a cuppa and some healthy snacks to bring you fully back.  Paulien Gort is an experienced Sound Healer who runs regular Sound Baths in Sydney. Bringing in her experience with shamanic healing, she facilitates powerful shifts on a physical/emotional/spiritual level.  Cost $35.

Womens Series Workshop (Yoga to Support and Tame the Change) Sunday 26 November 9.30pm-1.45pm

We will learn what asanas are beneficial for perimenopause, menopause and post menopause to balance the hormonal system and support the body, mind and spirit through the challenges and changes of this time.  There is a lot to be positive about and Yoga has much to offer in this area. Students with 3 months experience of Yoga welcome.  Cost $70.

It is so important to take time out of our busy lives to create a space to sit with ourselves and cultivate the practice of stillness and observation.  The Relax and Restore class centres around these concepts.  By practising asanas that quieten the nervous system, we can bring harmony across the physical, mental and emotional sheaths.  The result is a feeling of being grounded yet energised.   Life looks and feels a little lighter when we take the time to practice these asanas.  

Suitable for all students of all levels.  Cost $23

Neck and Shoulder Class Thursday  10 October 5.45pm-7.45pm

A two hour session that looks at asanas and the use of equipment to ease tension in the shoulders and create space and release around the neck.  The session is practical and is useful to those with neck and shoulder issues as well as general knowledge for students of all levels.  Please email to let me know if would like to attend.   Cost $35

PLEASE READ: Staff Absences Term 3 - change to Monday 6pm and Thursday 9.30am classes

I am taking leave from Thursday 12 September until Friday 4 October.  Covering classes wouldn't normally present a problem except that Steph and Sharon will be on retreat in Varanasi for some of this period.   Instead of cancelling classes, a Level 2 student has volunteered to conduct a Led Practice sequence in the Monday 6pm Level 2 class on 16 and 23 September and the Thursday 9.30am class on 12, 19 and 26 September.  This will only concern the students of these two classes unless you are planning to do a 'make up' class in either of these two.  If you are unfamiliar with Led Practice then I suggest you use another class for a make up this term.  Talk to me if you have any questions.

Weekend Workshop Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 November

Workshops allow us to look in more details at certain aspects of our yoga practice.  We have time to contemplate, study detail and cultivate a deeper understanding of yoga asana, pranayama and philosophy.  Building knowledge gives confidence and allows us to become strong, independent yoga practitioners.  Whether you are a beginner or an experienced student, this workshop is suitable for you, so join me!
